OWNED BY A SCOTTIE

Bridget wearing the family tartan!

"Daisy" has made some boys very happy! She is an OOPS puppy from Shockey the Poodles latest escape.

Hi Debbie,

I have to share these photos and as you can tell by the look on their faces that they are VERY pleased with their new little girl.   Daisy seems to be a little sad this am and likely misses her family and home as she is chatting lots.

From Sue in Richmond~~
Last May, after losing my border collie and knowing I couldn’t have a large dog in my home, I knew immediately the only breed that would work for me was either a Scottie or Westie. After reading the story of ‘Greyfriar’s Bobby’ as a child, and coming from a Scottish family, it just seemed like the right click.
Bridget was born May 16, 2009 – the daughter of Gidget and Jock. When she arrived, she spent the following months letting us know she had a big ego but an even bigger heart. She knows when to play rough and when to play it cool. After my father was diagnosed with cancer, she became a large source of comfort and even at her young age, she seemed to know exactly how to give that comfort. During the course of his illness, her spirit kept us going and kept us strong. She is an old soul in a young body and our family couldn’t be more thrilled to have her in our lives. She is fortunate enough to see her brother, Ollie from time to time and they get along well. They seem to know there is a connection and often just act like two peas from the same pod. Walking at the same pace, moving the same way. They are a sight to see together!
She loves kids, dogs, and just about anything that comes in her path. We often joke that she could become the next Walmart greeter!
I am thankful to have found Brigadoon Terriers, and hope that one day we can add a little sister to Bridget’s family.

Murray is Forrest and Flora's boy!

From the Friday family in Prince Rupert~~

Hi Debbie, we just adore Murray. He has such a sweet nature which we love about him. Are all your pups so sweet? lol. We were thinking about another male actually, just like Murray. We will let you know ASAP when we are ready and see if you have any suitable pups if not we will wait until the next available litter. I have fallen in love with Murray and adopted him as my own, so my mom was thinking of getting another :) They are a wonderful breed and we just cant get over how sweet Murray is (we had a mini dachshund once that was a bit of a nightmare, always biting and barking at people and so afraid of everything!). Rest assured we will give Murray lots of hugs and kisses from you and thanks again for everything! I will get my mom to send some photo's through to you as well!
Take care Debbie and enjoy those Scotties!!!!

From Christine in Vancouver
Hey Debbie,
hope things are going well. Our little pup is the greatest! We've had more than one person tell us he is changing their mind about Scotties! He is so sweet and smart (too smart sometimes). He's also great with other people and dogs. If you ever need any kind of reference just ask! He is so well tempered, handsome, and a real good little guy! Here are a couple of pictures of the little guy. I'm sure he misses his family, but he seems quite happy here! Did the rest of the pups go to good homes?
Thanks again so much for raising such a sweet little guy,
                                                                                                                                      Christine

 Hi Debbie

Just a quick note to let you know how Buffy (aka Madison) is doing.
We love her to pieces. She's soooo bad and a true brat...just what we asked for :) I saw her parents yesterday and apparently Flora is like that as well. In to everything.
We've become addicted and are thinking of getting another pup. Are you having another litter this year (2011)?
Anyway, hope things are going well for you and thanks again for our Buff-ster.

Cynthia

From Debbie Beck and her son Leland. Kenzy is a Gidget and Duff "Scoland."

Hi Debbie:  I wanted to let you know that you are a great breeder as we have a well house broken dog already. Only one accident in the house so far.  She is a very happy & healthy pup.  I have had lots of comments on her so far all very positive, I have passed on your website to a couple.  Please keep up the great work.  So many times you see a breeder that does not put the effort in with the pups they produce.  Well I can honestly say (you certainly did, and it really shows).  Kenzy's ears are standing up and she is looking like a true scotty with a clip under her belt already.  She has brought a lot of joy to our home.  I hope you are doing well.   Debbie, Leland & Kenzy

Hi Debbie,

How are you? My little boy is wonderful but full of piss and vinegar.  He is doing very well with commands but sometimes he just feels like he does not want to listen and turns his head.  He loves his toys and his apples for treats.  We have a bell on the floor so when he needs to go out we are teaching him to tap it with his paw, my other dog does it and it is so funny as he knows she will get a treat.

talk soon, Wendy

From Ann Whittaker of Collwood, the well populated with "Brigadoon Terriers" area outside Victoria. "Skye" is a "Duff" and "Annie" daughter.

This little puppy is having the time of her life playing with the Westie who never really had such a good play.- she has a very strong character and very bright – knows her name .  The cat is slowly getting used to her.  Trying to get a picture of her with Whiskey.      have a nice Easter – have six students here for it   Ann

From Don & Wendy Punter on "Jamie's" arrival..........
Hi Debbie:
He arrived OK and on time.  We took him out to a doggy park right next to the airport building and let him out of his crate to see if he wanted to pee.  Nope, so set off in the car on the hour long drive home – I sat in the back with him – we didn’t put him back in the crate, we had a little cardboard box lined with an old towel and I held him and stroked him all the way.  He livened up after a while and decided it would be a good idea to chew the cardboard box – little monkey managed to pull off a big chunk, then I had a tug-o-war with him to get it out of his mouth!
Anyway we arrived home – I’m afraid supper took over an hour to prepare as we kept stopping to play with him – inside and out in the patio.  The cat is not impressed as of this moment – she was hissing and growling and he growled back!  Like you say they are big dogs in a small body cos’ his growl is deep for such a little pint-sized creature.

We love him, he is so cute and precious.  I just know we are going to have good times with him and he with us – he follows us everywhere – to the point where I stood on his little paw because I hadn’t seen him come up behind me – gotta learn to look behind all the time now.

Anyway, he seems none the worse for his flight – he was very thirsty and luckily we had water in the car to give him. When we arrived we put food down right away as I saw he hadn’t eaten since 7 am.  But it was so funny, he was so curious and excited about everything, he would take one piece of kibble then run around crunching it as he went.

Going to watch our recording or Coronation Street now and we will nurse him as we watch.  He’s a doll.

Thank you for everything.  Will send you some pics as soon as we have something half decent uploaded.
Cheers for now
Wendy & Don

Here are some pics for you.  He seems to be settling – lots of crying last night.  Managed to put on his collar this morning – went crazy at first but seems to have accepted it now. Note the torn magazine behind him on the coffee table!!  He follows us everywhere and sticks his little nose into everything.  Freaked me out this afternoon, he spotted the cables behind the TV table – made a bee-line for them and proceeded to try and chew!!  New rule – do not leave Jamie on his own in the living room!!  Wendy

From The Connautons in Edmonton who drove all the way here to get "Winnie"!

Debbie,
Just a note to let you know all is well and Winnie is settling in very well. I have attached a couple of pics for you and we hope all is well with you.
Everyone thinks Winnie is adorable. She is the talk of our block for sure. We had a meet and greet with all the neighbors.

More on Jamie Punter!!!

Hi Debbie:
Finally have a short minute to give you an update on the little guy – how he’s doing and how we are coping etc. Am sending you some of our latest pickies.
We are very happy with him, we love him to pieces.  He has settled down with us so well.  He knows here is home and he’s happy about it.  We put his collar on first day and by night time he had accepted that it had to stay on.  Don introduced him to his leash and took him for a walk on about the fourth day and he took to it like a duck to water.  He loves going walkies – and he is the centre of attraction for all who pass him by on the way.  One woman stopped her car, got out and went running over to talk to Don about him.  It seems people love to see Scotties, especially puppy Scotties. We gave him a bath on the Saturday, he didn’t go too much on it, but he was fine.  He is just about due another one as he is smelling rather strongly.

He loves a game of chase and that sets him off – he goes charging round and round our patio – we have a special fenced off gravel area, which is where we are trying to train him to do his poop when he is outside.  So he tears around there too.  I laugh so hard at him because it is funny to see, but the more I laugh the faster he runs!

We have trained him to accept a crate (or pen) which has a sleeping area and a separate bathroom – have attached a picture of same.  We have been reading an excellent puppy training book and this is one thing they recommend.  So now at night, after he has had his last walk, or play outside, usually around 10 pm, he then goes in his pen, we shut and lock the door and he knows it is now bedtime and he sleeps all night – uses the bathroom area if he has to.  Don is usually up by 6 am and lets him outside and then it is breakfast, and about ¾ after that he gets his first walk.

He is finally learning to pee on the newspaper – which is now restricted to one area by the back door.  Trouble is, he pees rivers and then walks in it and traipses all over the sunroom with pee-wet feet! So it’s a big mop up job every time he goes!! Such is the life when one adopts a puppy, eh?

We feel we are making inroads into the toilet training, but we keep him in the sunroom most of the time – after meals he is quite happy to sleep until walk time and quite often we will just take him outside and play with him, or sit with him in his room – we have a small TV in there, so Don often watches a football game while keeping an eye on Jamie.  BTW:  The sunroom is a proper extension to the house at the back, not a lean-to shed or some such thing.  We call it the sunroom as it has windows all the way round, and catches the sun in the mornings.
He went to the vet again yesterday, for his second lot of shots.  He now weighs 2.7 kilo grams (Don says about 6lb) loves his food and gets half of a cookie when he has been a clever dog. He loves to come to Mum for cuddles, but only for so long – then it’s “had enough of that, let me down, got things to do!”

Anyway, must get on but wanted to let you know he is being well looked after, and is very much loved.  Hope you enjoy the photos.
Take care,
Wendy P
